What is Microblading?
Also known as cosmetic tattooing, 3D eyebrows, embroidery brows, mocropigmentation, and who knows what other Hollywood name they've come up with. I personally call it my magical unicorn made of eyebrow dreams!
Microblading is a semipermanent process using a small hand tool with tiny micro needles that implant pigment into the first layer of skin. Because of its delicate placement it is meant to fade so you can age gracefully with it and be able to alter your shape and style as trends change over time.

Is it permanent?
Microblading is semipermanent and meant to fade. The delicate process of implanting pigment into the first layer of skin is much like traditional tattooing only instead of using a heavy machine I am using a small hand tool allowing me to gently "draw" individual hairs. This process doesn't go as deep into the skin as traditional tattooing allowing it to gradually fade away.
How long does it last?
6 months to 5 years. Now I know that's a huge range but it really depends on the person. You have to consider skin tone, lifestyle, hormone and medication changes, sun exposure, products used on the area, and the actual color used in your Microblading service. On average after your first 2 sessions you can expect it to last 1 - 2 years.
How many treatments do I need?
For most people, 2 treatments will usually get you to your desired look. After your first treatment you will see a lot of fading and a more powdery softer look. You may love this look but if you want more depth or a richer color you will want to come back once everything has healed after about 6 weeks. This second treatment will also give you a bit more longevity with this second layer of pigment.
Remember, this treatment is meant to fade so a little maintenance is required. Sun exposure, skincare products, medications, and hormones play a huge roll in how your color will fade and how fast. Most clients get a touch up every 1-2 years.

Does it hurt?
There may be a bit of discomfort but it's really not bad. I've had people describe it like a really intense tweezing session and others say its like tiny kitten scratches. I do use a numbing solution after I've done the first pass but in order to keep your skin texture from thickening and for the solution to work, the skin has to be open.
Are there age limitations?
Yes. You must be at least 18 years or older by law to have any type of tattooing procedure. On the other hand, you can be any age but the older we get the thinner our skin tends to get. Microblading is still possible on thin delicate skin, it may scar easily and be more painful so I advise you to book a consultation and test patch if you are concerned.
Can I be pregnant or nursing?
No. Because I am opening your skin, therefore there is a small risk of infection. Enough said!
How do I prepare for my Microblading appointment? If you don't already know, now is the time to start looking for your ideal eyebrow. Bring me pictures, come in for your appointment wearing makeup like you usually do so I get an idea of your style. Anything to give me guidance to create your dream eyebrows.
1week before - Stay out of the sun. A sunburn or peeling skin from an older burn will result in having to reschedule. Keep up your skincare routine and gently exfoliate. Clear, smooth, moisturizer skin will take the pigment more consistently and heal better. 2 weeks before - Now is the time to stop using any retinoids and harsh skin products. Alpha hydroxy acids and salicilic acids may be used up to a week before. 1 month before - No sunburn, chemical peels, Botox treatments, laser treatments or anything that may change how your skin will heal. Please don't hesitate to ask if you aren't sure about something. Email me directly at BelindaTheBOLD@gmail.com |
What will happen during the appointment?1st you get to fill out paperwork and tell me all about your dream eyebrows. Showing up a little early for this part is encouraged! Describing your dream eyebrows can take a while. Then you and I will build your ideal eyebrows. I customize every eyebrow shape specifically for you so this step takes the longest because I am a perfectionist and this is going on your face! We will go over color, shape, density, and lifestyle as these elements will play an important roll in the design of your eyebrows. After we both decide your shape and design is ready, the fun stuff begins. Depending on the design depends on how many passes I will end up doing but typically it’s 3 passes. The actual Microblading itself is quite quick and each side takes about 10 minutes per pass. There can be a bit of discomfort but nothing more than watery eyes and maybe some sneezing. Each pass after that first one gets easier. When everything is done and we've taken every picture possible, the healing process begins and you will be sent home with specific aftercare instructions. Tada! You've got eyebrows!

What can I expect after my appointment?
The color is always a bit bolder and brighter than you will expect. Don't worry. As the healing process starts you will start to flake and peel. This will make the color lighten and you will begin to see your true Microbladed brows. The color and definition will continue to change over the next 6 weeks of the healing process. Be sure to follow the aftercare instuctions and do not pick, scratch, or scrub the area for 2weeks! And no makeup directly on the area, no swimming or steaming, and no excessive sweating for 2 weeks either!
For the next 6-8 weeks you need to avoid sun exposure, harsh products, exfoliating and excessive oils.
